NW Landing office closed February 16
The Northwest Landing office will be closed for Presidents Day on Monday, February 16, 2026. The office will reopen Tuesday, February 17, at 9 a.m. If there is an emergency during that time, such as broken and leaking underground sprinklers, fallen tree, or snow removal needed, email the board of directors at .
Help us help YOU!
The Northwest Landing Residential Owners Association employs four full-time community association professionals who keep the wheels turning on a very large homeowner association. If you need to contact the ROA, please either email or call 253-964-1289. When you email , your inquiry is entered into an online action request which is acted upon quickly. If you received a violation notice or fine, please follow up with ROA staff.
We have five members on the board of directors who meet monthly to review and act on policies and budgeting. Generally, the board does not have information about day-to-day operations, so it’s important to contact staff first.

Be part of the 2026 Citizens’ Academy
Join us for the 12th DuPont Police Department Citizens’ Academy. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the job that
your officers perform daily, department operations, and to gain some hands-on training experience.
Participants will have the opportunity to drive a police vehicle, take part in a training simulator, gain an understanding of criminal investigations, hear from special guests, meet members of the Metro Cities SWAT Team, and much more!
Starting on February 12, classes are held on Thursdays, 6-8 p.m., with one optional Saturday class on March 14. On March 26, the academy will conclude with a graduation ceremony. Minimum age requirement is 18 and there is no cost to participate! Application deadline is February 3.
For more information, contact the DuPont Police Department at 253-964-7060 or visit the DPD website. An application and waiver form can be obtained from the website or picked up in person at the DPD office located at 1780 Civic Drive.
Reminder to license your pets – dogs AND cats
All cats and dogs three months of age or older must be licensed by the City of DuPont and be current on rabies vaccines. Rabies vaccinations are required by Washington state law.
Even if your pet has a microchip, think of pet licensing as a way for your neighbors to get your wayward pet back home. DuPont police and other city staff can find the owners of lost pets and keep your pet out of the local shelter. Most residents won’t have a way to scan a microchip, especially if it’s a weekend when many veterinary offices are closed. License pets here.
Rental Housing Business License Renewal
Do you rent out property in DuPont? The City of DuPont has suspended issuing rental housing licenses for 2026. New information will be posted on the Rental Housing Business License webpage.
Who to call – city or ROA
If something is on a city street, grass strip between sidewalk and street, park, or trail, the City of DuPont has jurisdiction. That includes lost dogs, dangerous or sick wild animals, abandoned vehicles, graffiti, and fallen trees. Go to Report a Problem on the city’s website.
If something is in an alleyway or a greenspace/pocket park (most have red benches), Northwest Landing ROA has
jurisdiction. Call 253-964-1289 or email.
The Northwest Landing website hosts a Who You Gonna Call webpage which includes common topics our office gets questions about.
Community-wide yard sale dates
Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31, and Saturday, September 12, are the yard sale dates for Northwest Landing this year. Please note that yard sales are not sponsored by either the Northwest Landing ROA or the City of DuPont. Governing documents for Northwest Landing state that yard sales may be held two times a year and are announced by the ROA. If there is enough interest to hold a two-day yard sale in September, we will announce that later this year. The City of DuPont is hosting Big Bargain Bonanza at Clocktower Park on May 30 with 20-by-20-foot spaces for $25.
The Cascadian – Pierce County news source
If you have lived in Pierce County for the past 20 years, you may have read or heard about The Suburban Times. Pierce County resident Ben Sclar launched the online bulletin board with news from western Pierce County, including DuPont, in 2005. Earlier this year, he closed that chapter to focus on another news venture. In its place, is The Cascadian, continuing Suburban Times commitment to local news. You can sign up for a daily news roundup from DuPont and surrounding towns and cities here: Cascadian subscription.

Family Bowling
Several families enjoyed an afternoon of bowling fun on January 25. Here are some pics from the day.

Dear ROA,
I just got a violation notice from you guys because I sell baked goods from my house. I have a city business license and a cottage foods operations permit from the state. I have a right to sell my products!
–DuPont business owner
Dear business owner,
Yes, you are correct: you have a right to sell your products. However, both the ROA and the City of DuPont have laws about selling products in a residential area. In the Northwest Landing Declaration of Covenants which can be found on the ROA website under About Us-Governing Documents, subsection ix on page 28 states: Any business, trade, garage sale, moving sale, rummage sale, or similar activity, except that an owner or occupant residing in a unit so long as (a) the existence or operation of the business is not apparent or detectable by sight, sound, or smell from outside the unit; (b) the business activity conforms to all residential zoning requirements; (c) the business activity does not involve regular visitation of the unit by clients, customers, suppliers, or other business invitees or door-to-door solicitation of residents.
The only time products can be sold outside a residence would be during designated yard sale dates. This year that would be May 30-31 and September 12. Something to consider: both Pine and Moss and The Hive Market sell local products from licensed businesses. The City of DuPont sponsors a weekly farmers market at Clocktower Park in late spring through the summer.
Be prepared for snow
We don’t get huge amounts of snow in western Washington but, when we do, it often falls in February. In previous years, we’ve received as much as 15 inches of snow. The City of DuPont plows streets and Northwest Landing ROA plows alleys. It is every homeowner’s responsibility to keep sidewalks clear. DuPont’s city code states that “It shall be the duty of the owner or occupant of abutting property to keep the sidewalk in front of such property free from snow, ice, or obstruction of any kind, either natural or artificial.” Pay attention to when plows are on your street, so your vehicle(s) don’t get blocked-in by a wall of snow.
